Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates and the
second-largest carrier in the country, operates from its headquarters located in
Khalifa City, Abu Dhabi, near Abu Dhabi International Airport.
Established through a royal decree in July 2003, Etihad Airways commenced its
operations in November of the same year. As the third largest airline in the
Middle East and the second largest in the UAE, following
Emirates, Etihad operates primarily from Abu
Dhabi International Airport.
Apart from its core service of passenger transportation, Etihad also operates
Etihad Holidays and Etihad Cargo. In 2015, the airline established its own
alliance known as Etihad Airways Partners, which includes Alitalia, Jet Airways,
airberlin, Niki, Air Serbia, Air Seychelles, and Etihad Regional.
Etihad Guest is the frequent flyer program of Etihad Airways, launched on August
30, 2006. This program provides various benefits and perks to members, such as
discounted shopping through a web shop, extra baggage allowance, and priority
check-in for frequent travelers. Members can also redeem their accumulated
points for tickets or upgrades to a higher class of service.
