Etihad Airways Unaccompanied Minor Policy

Children traveling without a parent or legal guardian are classified as Unaccompanied Minors, and ensuring their safety is of utmost importance. If you decide to allow your child to fly alone as an unaccompanied minor, it is crucial to take all necessary precautions.

Etihad Airways offers an Unaccompanied Minor service for children aged 5 to 17 years old. To avail of this service, the first step is to book your child's flight.

Children under the age of five are not eligible to travel alone and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

For children aged 5 to 11, the Unaccompanied Minor service is provided free of charge. They should be booked on a regular adult fare.

Children aged 12 to 17 have the option to travel on their own adult ticket, but you may choose to utilize the Unaccompanied Minor service for an additional fee. Please note that guests between the ages of 12 and 17 are not allowed to accompany an unaccompanied minor. However, legally recognized parents under the age of 18 are permitted to accompany infants or children, provided they have appropriate identification.

The cost for the Unaccompanied Minor service is US $100 each way for direct flights or US $150 each way for connecting flights.

If you make changes to your child's flight, a new Unaccompanied Minor service request must be submitted. It is essential to do this at least 24 hours before the scheduled flight departure to avoid any additional charges at the airport. However, for children aged 12 to 17, you will only be required to pay again if you switch from a direct flight to a connecting flight.

Please be aware that the unaccompanied minor service provided by Etihad Airways may have varying requirements or restrictions depending on the specific route or destination. Therefore, it's best to contact Etihad Airways customer service team directly for more information about their unaccompanied minor policy.
