Alaska Airlines, headquartered in the Seattle metropolitan area of Washington, is an American airline with a rich history. Originally founded as McGee Airways in 1932, it initially operated flights from Anchorage, Alaska.

As a major air carrier, Alaska Airlines is part of the Alaska Air Group, which also includes sister airlines Horizon Air and Virgin America. The Alaska Air Group acquired Virgin America in April 2016, and for a period, both airlines operated under their own names.

However, on April 24, 2018, Virgin America was fully merged into Alaska Airlines.

Alaska Airlines offers a frequent flyer program called Alaska Mileage Plan. This program enables members to accumulate miles through flights on Alaska Airlines and its partners, as well as through various travel and non-travel activities. These earned miles can be redeemed for award travel, upgrades, and other beneficial rewards.
