With experience, you may have the opportunity to work as a "lead ramp hand," coordinating aircraft for their next flights. Additionally, you may be involved in training staff on new equipment and procedures.

The starting average salary for baggage handlers in major airports in the United States ranges from approximately $20,000 to $30,000 per year. Handlers with supervisory responsibilities can earn higher salaries. Some baggage handlers are paid on an hourly basis, and overtime and shift allowances can contribute to increased income.
