United Airlines' baggage policy for regular Economy Class fares includes the following:

Carry-on Baggage

- 1 personal item: Fee-free
- 1 carry-on item: Fee-free
- Checked baggage / Hold luggage: Applicable fees apply
- Overweight and Oversize bags: Applicable fees per bag depending on weight and size categories
- Sports equipment: Applicable fees apply

United Airlines Carry-on Baggage Policy

United Airlines allows 1 carry-on bag and 1 personal item (such as a purse, briefcase, or laptop bag) per passenger, fee-free.

Carry-on bags should adhere to the following size and weight restrictions:

- 45 linear inches (22 x 14 x 9 in) or 115 centimeters (56 x 36 x 23 cm), including handles and wheels
- They should fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you.

Personal items should adhere to the following size and weight restrictions:

- 36 linear inches (16 x 11 x 8 in) or 89 centimeters (41 x 28 x 20 cm)
- They should fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you.
- Items such as jackets, umbrellas, diaper bags, duty-free items, and assistive devices (wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, strollers, child restraint seats, etc.) do not count towards your carry-on allowance.

United Airlines Checked Baggage / Hold Luggage Policy

United Airlines' standard checked baggage / hold luggage policy includes:

- 2 bags standard (fees apply for Economy Class fares)
- Maximum dimensions: 62 inches or 157 centimeters (length + width + height)
- Maximum weight: 50 pounds or 23 kilograms

Fees for Baggage on United Airlines

The fees for checked baggage are determined by factors such as the type of fare purchased, destination, military status, frequent flyer program status, affiliated carrier status, or United Airlines sponsored credit/charge card.

For US domestic flights:

- First bag: US$30.00
- Second bag: US$40.00
- Third and any additional bags: US$150.00 per bag

For international flights to/from the US:

- First bag: Generally nothing
- Second bag: US$100.00

Excess Baggage Fees

United Airlines charges the following for bags exceeding the standard weight limit of 50 pounds or 23 kilograms on US domestic flights:

- 51 to 70 pounds or 24 to 32 kilograms: US$100 to US$200 extra per bag
- 71 to 100 pounds or 33 to 46 kilograms: US$400 extra per bag
- Bags exceeding 100 pounds or 46 kilograms will not be accepted as checked baggage / hold luggage.
- Fees for flights to/from the US range from US$200 to US$400. The United Airlines "Baggage Calculator" on United.com determines the exact amount per route.

Fees for Sports Equipment

Fees for sports equipment vary based on the type of equipment. Skis, golf bags, fishing equipment, hockey gear, and lacrosse equipment are generally considered one item, with fees starting at US$30.
