If you have a young child aged 6 to 17 years old who will be traveling alone or
accompanied by someone under 18 years old, Cathay Pacific considers them an
unaccompanied minor. It is important to take necessary precautions to ensure
their safety during the journey.
For children between the ages of 2 and 12 years old traveling on a Cathay
Pacific flight, they must be accompanied by their parents or guardians at all
times for their safety. If your child is aged six to under 12 years old and will
be traveling alone, you must register them as an unaccompanied minor when making
the reservation. The only exception to this rule is if they are accompanied by
an adult passenger who is at least 18 years old.
Children aged 12 to under 18 years old do not require any special arrangements
when traveling, but you have the option to register them as unaccompanied minors
for a nominal fee if you prefer Cathay Pacific to take care of them.
It is important to note that airlines may request documented proof of a child's
age.
When booking an unaccompanied minor, there are special booking fees and
surcharges based on the sector:
- Between Hong Kong and destinations in Africa, Europe, the Middle East, North
America, the South Asia Subcontinent, and Southwest Pacific: HKD 800/USD 100.
- Other routes: HKD 400/USD 50.
If you are making travel plans for your child on a Cathay Pacific flight, it is
recommended to give your local reservations office 24 hours' notice.
Ensuring the safety and well-being of unaccompanied minors is of utmost
importance, and Cathay Pacific has specific procedures and services in place to
provide a secure travel experience for them.
It's important to note that Cathay Pacific Airways's unaccompanied minor service may have
different requirements or restrictions depending on the specific route or
destination. Therefore, it's best to contact Cathay Pacific Airways
customer service team directly for more
information about their unaccompanied minor policy.
