The baggage allowance for Cathay Pacific Airways flights depends on the route, travel class,
and Cathay Pacific Airways Marco Polo Club membership status of the passenger.
Here is a general
overview of the baggage allowances for Cathay Pacific Airways flights:
Carry-On Baggage
Each passenger is permitted to carry on one bag and one personal item, such as a
purse or briefcase. Assistive devices and outer garments are not counted as
personal items. The carry-on luggage must fit in the overhead bin or under the
seat in front of you and must adhere to the following requirements:
• Maximum Dimensions of Carry-on Luggage: 22 inches x 14 inches x 9 inches (56
cm x 36 cm x 23 cm) (length x width x height)
• Maximum Weight of Carry-on Luggage for Economy Class passengers: 15 lb (7 kg)
• Maximum Weight of Carry-on Luggage for Business Class passengers: 22 lb (10
kg)
• Maximum Weight of Carry-on Luggage for First Class passengers: 33 lb (15 kg)
Additionally, First and Business Class passengers are allowed to bring one
garment or soft bag not exceeding 8 inches (20 cm) in thickness.
Checked Baggage
For travel to/from Central, North, or South America, each passenger is allowed
two checked bags, provided that each bag adheres to the following requirements:
• Maximum Dimensions: 62 linear inches (157 cm) (length + width + height)
• Maximum Weight: 70 lb (32 kg)
For travel to/from destinations other than the Americas, passengers must adhere
to the following requirements:
• Maximum Dimensions: 62 linear inches (157 cm) (length + width + height)
• Maximum Weight for Economy Class passengers: 44 lb (20 kg)
• Maximum Weight for Business Class passengers: 66 lb (30 kg)
• Maximum Weight for First Class passengers: 88 lb (44 kg)
Excess, Overweight, Oversize Baggage Fees
If you exceed the permitted baggage allowance, or if your bags exceed the weight
or size restrictions, additional fees will apply. It is recommended to contact
Cathay Pacific directly or visit their Excess Baggage Information Page for
detailed information. Please note that any single bag weighing over 70 pounds
(32 kg) will not be accepted.
Sports Equipment
Certain checked items, such as bicycles, may incur a fixed handling fee due to
their size, fragility, or other special handling requirements. Other sports
equipment may be checked in place of one of your regular checked bags. If you
plan to travel with sporting equipment, it is advisable to contact Cathay
Pacific directly to confirm packing regulations and fees.
Please note that excess baggage fees may apply if you exceed the baggage
allowance. It's always best to check your specific allowance for your itinerary
by contacting their customer service team.
